How To Install Android 4.0.3 ICS MIUI ROM On Galaxy S II

To Install Android 4.0.3 ICS MIUI ROM On Galaxy S II, which, based on CyanogenMod, is one of the more popular custom builds due to its smooth and distinct interface. More than being just a pretty face though, it features a better notifications menu as well as enhanced Camera/Gallery/Music apps.

Last month we showed you how To Install Android 4.0.3 ICS MIUI ROM On Galaxy S II on your HP TouchPad device, and courtesy of adyscorpius over at XDA-Developers, you can now install it on your Samsung Galaxy S II. It’s a pretty well-tuned build, thus you won’t have to sacrifice any basic functions in order to enjoy it, and while we’d usually advise against performing such mods on your daily runner, this particular ROM is at version 2.1, so many of the usual caveats found in early alpha releases have been resolved.

If you’ve already installed CyanogenMod on your Galaxy S II, you will need to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery, wipe /data and /cache partitions, before installing the downloaded .zip file from install zip from sdcard menu; just as we did in our previous tutorial: how to install CyanogenMod 7 (Alpha 3).

Even if you haven’t already installed CyanogenMod, don’t fret, since installing MIUI on the Galaxy S II isn’t particularly difficult. Check out the guide how to install CyanogenMod (Alpha 11) for information on how you can do that.

With the formalities out of the way, let’s get started. Before you begin, make sure you’ve the following files at the ready:

Step 1: Download the AdyScorpiusMIUIv2.1-ICS-i9100-2.1.20.zip via this link. The file is over 100MB, so may take a few moments for those on slower connections.

Step 2: Once the download is complete, copy the .zip file to /sdcard.

Step 3: Boot your Galaxy SII into Recovery Mode.

Step 4: Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and then go to Mounts and Storage and select Wipe System.

Step 5: Install zip from sdcard – Version 2.1.

Step 6: Wipe Data/Factory Reset once more.

Step 7: Reboot your device, and you should be good to go.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iOS 5 Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 Untethered

If you are one of the lucky people that currently has iOS 5 installed on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you might be thinking about Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iOS 5 Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 Untethered. If that sounds about right, you’ve come to the right place. Thanks to the work of the iPhone Dev-Team, you can tether-jailbreak your iOS 5 device using Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 by following this simple tutorial.

So, if you own a supported device that’s running latest iOS, here is how to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iOS 5 Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 Untethered:

-Install iTunes 10.5.
-Connect Your iDevice to your computer and back up your files.
-Download the correct version of iOS 5. You can find the direct links here. Or you can update through iTunes.
-Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 for Windows or for Mac.
-Open that file, select ‘Jailbreak’ then ‘Install Cydia’. It’ll take you to DFU mode and Redsn0w will jailbreak your device.

With today’s official iOS5 release, redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.9b5 to include the public URLs for the IPSW files. This way, first-time iOS5 jailbreakers don’t need to supply the IPSW file manually. It’s still a tethered jailbreak on all except the old-bootrom iPhone3GS, and it doesn’t apply to iPad2 or the upcoming iPhone4S.

Because the jailbreak is currently only tethered for most devices, we’re not going to release a new PwnageTool yet. Instead, we’ve decided to build some of PwnageTool’s functionality into redsn0w (since you need redsn0w to “Just boot tethered” on every power cycle anyway). The new “Custom IPSW” button on the Extras screen will create a custom IPSW without the baseband update for 4.3.3 or 5.0gm (iPhone3GS and iPhone4 only, for now). Remember not to accidentally restore to the stock IPSW after you create the custom one! The custom one begins with NO_BB_ (for “no baseband”).

You must enter “Pwned DFU” mode before trying to use the NO_BB_ IPSW with iTunes (and your hosts file cannot be pointing to Cydia’s servers due to the new blob nonce mechanism they’re using in iOS5).

Version 0.9.9b5 is available only for Mac for now, until we can do more testing on the Windows version of “Custom IPSW”.

We’re currently working on a normal compatibility update for existing ultrasn0w unlockers. After that we’ll try to fix the iBooks issue on jailbroken iOS5.

Make sure iTunes is updated t0 version 10.5 (iTunes > Check for Updates), check your device has iOS 5 installed, and then run Redsn0w. Click “Jailbreak” and follow the on-screen prompts. If you’re new to jailbreaking, hit up Redmond Pie’s step-by-step walkthrough. Nokia E72 comes with HSUPA (up to 2Mbps) and HSDPA (Up to 10Mbps). The UMTS support has upgraded and now the E72 will come with two tri-band versions (850/1900/2100 Mhz and 900/1900/2100 Mhz). One of the best part is that the Nokia E72 has managed to maintain the slim 10mm of its predecessor the Nokia E71, despite the added goodies. Other than that Nokia E72 also has these rich features including S60 3rd edition UI, a 2.4" QVGA landscape screen, microSD card slot, WLAN, A-GPS, FM radio and quad-band GSM It will be available in Topaz Brown, Zodium Black and Metal Grey.
